Software installation:
As you know the
purpose of this workshop is to evaluate the shoftware that will be
used in integrate the work from the IM-CLeVeR consortium. In order
to maximize the time that can be productively used for evaluation
we ask that everyone installs as much of the software as they can
on their laptops already before the meeting.
Martin Huelse
has kindly prepared a website with quick links to all
the required software packages and installation
instructions http://users.aber.ac.uk/msh/IMCLEVER/
Further
information concerning Yarp and iCub is also available through
the pages prepared by
Fabian http://im-clever.noze.it/resources/middleware
Further
information concerning BRAHMS can be found
at http://brahms.sourceforge.net/docs/
with
a BRAHMS download page at http://sourceforge.net/projects/brahms/
As
first step in the installation process I suggest Martin's website.
In addition to the install instructions this also includes a
bundled software package including all of the required software
(expect Matlab and Linux OS).
My own experience with
installing the software on Linux Ubuntu has been that the most
difficult bit was getting the ACE installation right. If you are
having difficulties with this I suggest checking the install.html
document in the yarpdocs folder (provided in Matrin's software
package). Also
check: http://im-clever.noze.it/resources/middleware%20/utilities-1/how-to-install-and-run-the-icub-simulator-on-linux
How
to get to the workshop and accommodation in Sheffield.
The
workshop will be held at:
Halifax
Endcliffe Vale
Road
Sheffield S10 3ER
This
is in the same university campus site as the
accommodations.
Check-in for the accommodations will be at
the reception of "The Edge":
The Edge
34
Endcliffe Crescent
Sheffield S10 3ED
From the train station you can either take a
taxi (costs about £8) or you can take the 40 bus. To take the
bus, follow the signs from the Train station to the
transport interchange (you need to leave the station at the front,
cross the road and walk down a short bit of covered foot-path).
The 40 bus departs from stop D6 (check the sign in case of
changes). It runs about every 10 minutes during the day and every
20 minutes until midnight. Ask for the Endcliffe Crescent stop.
As you can see from the map (Edge.pdf, sent via mail) the bus stop is on Fulwood road (top of map). from there you need to walk down-hill a short bit to get to the Endcliffe Village university campus. The big building in the middle, which includes the restaurant where breakfast is served, is The Edge. To check-in, go to the reception at The Edge. The reception is staffed 24 hours a day.
